Go to the company Careers Page or Job Board. If there’s anything you’d like to apply for then go right ahead and apply! When you speak to the company representative at the job fair mention that you applied for a job online. If you have any questions about the job, you now have the perfect opportunity to get answers right from the source. Not only does it show that you’re interested in the job, but it shows that you’re willing to take steps to engage yourself in the job search process. This step could put you on the fast track to recruitment.

4 Job Search Tips for the Disabled:
#1 - Make a List … narrow your job search to industries where you are well-qualified and well-suited for the responsibilities. Once have an idea of jobs that would be a great fit for you, target companies known to be disability friendly (link to previous post) and see what’s available.
#2 - Use Online Resources … after applying to disability friendly companies, expand your search with online resources. Use a mix of disability specific job boards (like GettingHired.com or AbilityJobs.com) and general job search sites (like Jobcase).
#3 - Explore Temp to Hire … nothing helps a job seeker more than being able to show that they can do the job. Staffing agencies can be a great way to do just that. Work hard, perform well, and leverage that temporary position into a permanent one once you’ve shown your value. To get started, look into some of America’s largest agencies: Robert Half International, Adecco, Aerotek, or Randstad.
#4 - Use the Ticket to Work Program … if you are an adult age 18 to 64 and you are receiving disability benefits, you are eligible for the Social Security Administration’s Ticket to Work program. They can offer support services, vocational rehabilitation, and help with finding a job. To get started, call their toll free number (1-866-968-7842) or visit the program website.
